UGLY SINGAPOREAN... hai~
When the survey says that singapore is rank among the worst country when it comes to courtesy, people always point their fingers to the people working in the service sector. Is that really true? Well, i really hope that we as Singaporeans will STOP pointing fingers and reflect on our own behavior.
Was at the NDP Family day yesterday as usher. Everything seems to go as what i've experienced when i was usher during my poly days! People being polite, queuing up to get into the stadium and etc. But this change when the weather becomes very hot and the queue gets longer.
Here i am trying my best to put up a smile in this ultra hot day and i have people scolding me for having all the barricades put up to form the huge queue as the people is coming in.
Then, as no one was manning my barricades, they just push aside the barricades and let themselves access into the stadium. So now i have to put somebody, much younger than them to mann the barricades to make sure they behave themselves.
After manning the barricades, the unthinkable happened. The orange netting that is suppose to form the queue was broken and the crowds came dashing in, skipping the ticket collector. So this time, i have to call for backup to mann those orange netting.
Some people simply refusing to co-orperate despite talking to them nicely. They even threaten us that they will write a complain letter to the minister!!
I'm a 100% singaporean and if you ask all my friends, they would know that i really love my country. Therefore I'm not saying all this because all Singaporeans behaves like this or that i hate singaporeans. In fact, there were lots of people smiling back when they see me smiling, and lots of "thank yous" from appreciative people as they could see that we were putting in a lot of effort even though we were really drenched in our on sweat. So you make your own conclusion about the outcome of the survey. Is it really true the the people in our service sector is not working hard? Or is it because of unappreciative people?
